Abstract Severe rail roughness leads to a series of problems in metro systems, particularly the vehicle noise problem. To ensure better acoustic environment, control is therefore one main concerns for operators. But existing acceptance criteria are not suitable interior control. It an appropriate method determine limit based on noise. A criterion accordingly proposed this paper. The relationship between and can be derived with wheel-rail as link. With objective, combined test simulation adopted. validated wheel-rfigil prediction model thus established Moreover, transfer function developed extensive field test.
